“This is not a fad.” – Marc Hustvedt, CEO of FBE
The word is out that interactive content developers Eko will produce at least a dozen interactive TV pilots for Fine Brothers Entertainment (FBE) , the first of which is called Epic Night, a four-episode branching-narrative series about a college-party adventure that is already produced and is slated to premiere on Eko’s free, ad-supported HelloEko streaming video site and app in the fall of 2019.
In Epic Night, viewers control the decisions of Martin (played by Jacob Latimore) who struggles to balance love and friendship in interactions with long-time crush Jess (Jessica Sula) and best friend Lillis (Karan Brar). Sasha Pieterse (“Pretty Little Liars”) also stars.
All of the interactive television pilots EKO produces for FBE will air on the Eko site and they will decide whether to pick up a full series based on engagement, similar to how Amazon decides to pick what they produce.
Since Wallmart owns a huge stake in Eko, there is a chance that Vudu will also become a place to experience this interactive content.
Eko recently released SamBarlow’s War Games (read our interview with Sam here), have inked a deal with indie film darlings the Duplass brothers, and engaged comedian/actor/writer Paul Sheer to develop interactive content in the near future.
Hello Eko indeed!
More as it comes, folks!
